The 2005 draft was Sidney Crosby and Carey Price. Clearly, if the 2005 draft were redone, Price would be higher than fifth.
By the way, the website The Hockey Writers has redone the entire first round, of the 2005 draft, based on the players' careers, not the last year.
Here's the result:
1. Pittsburgh: Sidney Crosby (original selection: Sidney Crosby)
2. Anaheim: Jonathan Quick (original selection: Bobby Ryan)
3. Carolina: Carey Price (original selection: Jack Johnson)
4. Minnesota: Anze Kopitar (original selection: Benoit Pouliot)
5. Montreal: James Neal (original selection: Carey Price)
6. Columbus: Keith Yandle (original selection: Gilbert Brule)
7. Chicago: Kristopher Letang (original selection: Jack Skille)
8. San Jose: Bobby Ryan (original selection: Devin Setoguchi)
9. Ottawa: Paul Stastny (original selection: Brian Lee)
10. Vancouver: TJ Oshie (original selection: Luc Bourdon)
