This summer, the Detroit Red Wings offered defenceman Mark Pysyk a one-year contract worth $850,000. On September 21, the player was placed on the injured list with an Achilles heel injury.
Pysyk had undergone surgery on his Achilles heel in July. According to whistleblower Frank Seravalli, the defender re-injured the same spot.
No word on the player's future return to action, but it is understood that his career is on the line as he will be a free agent without compensation at the end of the season.
He has 104 total points, including 28 goals in 521 career NHL games.
