Marc-Andre Fleury: Vegas' goaltending duo is as good as any, but with Fleury's contract expiring after this season, the organization might trade him for a legitimate top-two line center. Robin Lehner, who is seven years younger than the Flower and has signed a four-year extension with the Golden Knights, is the goaltender of the future.
Fleury, who is still one of the finest goaltenders in the league, would get a lot of attention. The Washington Capitals were rumored to be interested in trading him for Evgeny Kuznetsov, but given Kuznetsov's track record, the Vegas strip could be the last place he needs to be. The Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators are all interested in signing him. Flower is protected from trades and submits a list of ten teams he wants to avoid.
Brayden McNabb: The Golden Knights may have to sacrifice McNabb, who is under contract for another season, if they want to maintain Alec Martinez. Any deal for a top-four defender with one year remaining on his contract has been a good one, so Vegas may get a decent draught pick and prospect in return.
The most important thing here is to get McNabb's $2.5 million off the books so they can sign Martinez to a three-year contract. Given what they gave up to get him and Martinez' output this season (32 points in 53 games), McNabb appears to be on his way out.
The Golden Knights have just over $6 million in cap space right now. Expect management to make a couple of dramatic moves after another year of playoff disappointment, and these two could be among them. Prepare for the busiest offseason in NHL history, and Vegas will be right in the thick of it.
