We Now Know The Insulting Offer Given to Bo Horvat By Canucks Management
Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat is a pending unrestricted free agent. More and more, the sentiment is that Horvat won't be in Vancouver this time next year.
We now know that Canucks management offered Horvat a truly insulting offer.
Frank Seravalli reported this offer:
Seravalli said Canucks first offer to Horvat was 8 years at 5.125 mill per season.
This offer isn't even in the range of what would be fair. Horvat is still relatively young, and max-term shouldn't be an issue - however, the team that gave JT Miller $8.5-million should know they aren't close with that number.
The recent comps to Horvat would be Roope Hintz (8x8.45M), Mat Barzal (8x9.15) and Robert Thomas (8x8.125M). Recent deals even remotely close to that numbers for centres are Andrew Copp and Vincent Trochek. It's fair to say that Horvat clears both.
On pace for a 50-goal season, Horvat will likely chase the big payday somewhere else.
