We Now Know What a Trade For Patrick Kane Will Look Like
The inevitable trade of Patrick Kane will be one of the biggest trades in the cap era. The scoring superstar former 1st overall pick is one of the most storied players in Blackhawks history.
We now know what a trade package will likely look like for Kane. It will have to be somewhat similar to the trade that brought Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers last season.
Kane and Giroux share an agent, Pat Brisson, who is passionate about getting his clients to the team they want to be on.
It's very similar, yes,» Brisson told The Athletic earlier this season. «The respect that both players have for each organization. Claude will have his number in the rafters in Philly one day, I do believe, and obviously Patrick as well in Chicago. Both players are very respected on those teams. Claude at the beginning of last season wanted to see how things were going to go with the Flyers. We realized pretty soon, by November, that if he wanted a chance at trying to win a Cup last season, he would have to make a decision. And he picked Florida. The Panthers were one of the most attractive teams at the trade deadline.
Frank Seravalli, of The Daily Faceoff continued the comparison between the two:
«If you're looking for a potential style of deal in both managing it and potential return package, look back on how Claude Giroux departed Philadelphia last spring.»
Frank Seravalli
Giroux was traded for former 10th overall pick Owen Tippett, a 1st round pick in either 2024 or 2025, and a 3rd round pick in 2023. A trade for Patrick Kane could even notch more than this.
It will be exciting to see what happens.
