Zdeno Chara has a lot to think about as he prepares to sign a new contract for the 2021-22 season. The St Louis Blues didn't make the cut. Chara has informed the team she will not sign a contract.
According to sources, Chara plans to play next season in the Eastern Conference to be closer to his family. The 44-year-old defenceman will turn 45 in March and will be the NHL's oldest player next season.
After a decade in Boston, Chara played 55 games with the Washington Capitals last season, which took some getting used to. Chara's family remains in Bean Town, but expect him to relocate east in the coming weeks as training camp approaches. Big Z has always put family first, and you can't blame him.
