Over the past two years, Keefe has brought the leafs within points of the President's Trophy conversation, but I don't think I need to remind you all how the playoffs have gone.
After a brutal 4-1 loss the Columbus Blue Jackets, it's not surprising the playoff question arose again. If the team can't beat the bottom-ranked team in the league, how will they beat the playoff-built Tampa Bay Lightning.
Barring anything extreme, Tampa is already set as the Leafs' opponent come the post-season. These losses, however, increase the chance they lose their home-ice advantage.
With all of this in mind, Toronto analyst and writer Damien Cox has called for Keefe's firing.
Cox proposes that Bruce Boudreau could be the man for the job, as he has notably brought intensity and new life to teams. He has cup pedigree, and has expressed interest in coaching again.
The Leafs most likely will stick with Keefe. They know him, and he's brought success. We'll only know if this was the right move when the Leafs win, or lose in the playoffs.
