Major Turnaround: Oilers Looking to Trade Superstar Leon Draisaitl? Insider Believes An Eastern Conference Team is Making a Push for Him
It is no secret that the Oilers have been underperforming this year. The team was expected to win the pacific division and many, including NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, picked them to win the Stanley Cup this year. Instead they are 31st in the league. A loss tonight would tie them with the historically bad San Jose Sharks for dead last in the league.
Oilers Considering Unfathomable Blockbuster Trade With Bruins
The team is in complete disarray. The goaltending has been virtually nonexistent. Multiple people's jobs are on the line and players are fans alike are losing their patience, if they hadn't lost it already years ago. Now the team is reportedly considering a trade that would send the hockey world into a frenzy of activity. The trade proposal includes Leon Draisaitl going to the Bruins in return for Linus Ullmark.
Oilers Hit Rock Bottom, Desperation Sets In
This kind of move would only be considered by a team that is truly desperate. Draisaitl is arguably a top five if not top three player in the league. At the same time though, Draisaitl may no longer be content with the Oilers. His mood is clearly not a happy one as can be seen in any recent interview.
If Draisaitl were to request a trade, suddenly this idea does not look so crazy. It is hard to see how the Oilers would win a Draisaitl trade, but getting a true number one goalie for a long time would go a long way to fixing the team's problems. Of course, then they would have a massive hole to fill in their forward group, but the team will have to cross that bridge when they get there.
