Gary Bettman to Announce Coyotes' Relocation: Sources
It's actually happening Coyote fans. Report emerges that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is gearing up to drop a bombshell announcement on April 18th. The Arizona Coyotes are getting sold to none other than billionaire Ryan Smith and making a move all the way to Salt Lake City, Utah!
The desert dogs, who've been there after moving from Winnipeg where they were the original Jets from 1972-1996, will be trading in their cactus patches for snowy peaks as they head to their new home.
Before they pack up their gear and hit the road, the Coyotes are set to lace up for one last showdown on April 17th against the Edmonton Oilers. It's going to be an emotional night at Mullet Arena as fans bid farewell to their beloved team in what's sure to be a memorable swan song. I was talking to an Arizona season ticket holder who plans to follow the team to Utah, and he said the expectation is for the prices to double for the franchise finale.
The arena is so small that tickets are usually expensive considering it's a small market but this news will turn it up a notch.
