While he ultimately wasn't included in the deal to send Elias Lindholm to Vancouver, reports emerged that both parties were discussing a reunion to Vancouver with veteran defenseman Chris Tanev.
Given his UFA status at the end of the season, Tanev has been a prime trade candidate all season long, and after pulling the trigger on Lindholm, GM Craig Conroy appears ready to make plenty of moves.
The deal ultimately hasn't gone through yet with Vancouver, but given the haul that Calgary got in return, they may be motivated to make another deal soon, and with Vancouver, Dallas, New York and Toronto all showing interest in the veteran, a deal could come soon.
Tanev may not bring much to the scoresheet, but his toughness, leadership and willingness to put his body on the line make him a highly desired asset ahead of the March 8 trade deadline, so now, it appears to be just a matter of time until Calgary continue selling off their veteran pieces.
