The Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Seattle Kraken are all expected to be involved in this. Keith, on the other hand, was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the adjacent town of Fort Frances, Ontario.
Before his family relocated to Penticton, BC, where he played junior hockey, he played AAA bantam for Thunder Bay. Keith and his family live in the Penticton region during the offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with the Jets or the Canucks.
However, according to Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks are not interested in Keith trade negotiations.
What's amusing is that, of all the clubs named, the Oilers may have the biggest need for Keith. They're likely to lose offensive defenceman Tyson Barrie to free agency, and Keith, 37, is a C-level replacement at this point in his career, but he's still a substitute.
Needless to say, Keith's skill and knowledge on the backend would be much appreciated by the Kraken. Of course, they have no one on their roster at the moment, but they could do a lot worse than bringing in Keith as their first official roster player. Would anyone be surprised if Keith became the Kraken's first commander now?
