The Edmonton Oilers' forward Evander Kane got injured ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs and missed yesterday's practice.

As the team was preparing for their first matchup against the Kings, both Kane and Janmark weren't on the ice:

"Evander Kane and Mattias Janmark are not on the ice. #Oilers"

Kane, 32, also missed the last three games of the Oilers' season, with an injury.

"Evander Kane will not play tonight. Knoblauch describes it as maintenance, similar to McDavid's situation.

If it was Game 1 of the playoffs, Kane would be in. Extra time to heal to ensure he's 100%. #Oilers"

With the Oilers set to play on Monday night, we'll know soon enough if the team was telling the truth back then.

Most teams don't share details of the injuries in the playoffs, so we don't expect much. However, in the warmups, an official decision should be made for Kane.

This season, the controversial forward tallied 44 points, including 24 goals, in 77 games. In last year's playoffs, he had underwhelming performances, scoring only five points in 12 games.

We'll keep you in the loop for any updates from the Oilers concerning Kane and the lineup for their first playoff game.

UPDATE: Kane was on the ice for the team practice today, alongside Jarnmark.

"Evander Kane on the ice this morning as well. 2nd PP unit and in bottom 6 blue."

"Evander Kane is on the ice for Oilers practice.

Yesterday, Kris Knoblauch said he is «hopeful» to have Kane in Game 1."
