DeAngelo, who had 11 Goals and 42 Points in 70 Games this season, was named a healthy scratch for the Flyers last 5 games of the season.
In a response to his benching, DeAngelo said that being left off the team left a "sour taste" in his mouth.
DeAngelo also called the benching "ridiculous", but had accepted the decision by Tortorella to sit him.
Tortorella declined speaking about DeAngelo's benching, but had said in the past that DeAngelo needs to work on his defense.
DeAngelo was acquired by the Flyers in July of last season in exchange for three draft picks. The 27-year-old defenseman will be a free agent at the end of the season. DeAngelo would be a prime trade candidate given his offensive talents, which haven't meshed in a more defensive minded Torts-led team.
DeAngelo said his goal is to stay in Philadelphia, but that will depend on if the Flyers agree that's the best option for both sides. But there is little doubt questions still remain over DeAngelo's future.
