Jon Cooper Provides Massive Update on Steven Stamkos' Injury
It was scary for Lightning fans when Steven Stamkos left the game midway through the first period and didn't return. Head Coach Jon Cooper has now given an update.
Stamkos Should Be OK
It's easy to jump to conclusions when a player misses most of the game with injury without returning. However, Jon Cooper has eased the anxiety, noting that Stamkos should be OK.
I think he's going to be OK. We just kept him out for precaution. We'll check him out tomorrow, but we're hopeful he'll be OK.
It was purely a precaution to keep him out, which was probably a wise move as the Lightning will need to be healthy to hold off the red-hot Maple Leafs in the first round in a few weeks.
Hopefully Stamkos will be back next game!
