Tyler Bertuzzi's Fit in Toronto is Now Known

Tyler Bertuzzi was brought in to Toronto to be a key player and he has now had his role revealed by the media.

Bertuzzi's Role Revealed

In a recent article by Peter Baracchini of The Hockey Writers, they took a deep dive into Tyler Bertuzzi and who he should play with next season.

With lots of evidence that ranges from Bertuzzi's statistics to his mindset, they all pointed to one answer; Bertuzzi should be on the Leafs top line.

This quote specifically stood out:

Seeing as Bertuzzi managed to play with top names, the hope is that it can carry over with two more star-studded players in Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

Treliving's Gameplan

Brad Treliving revealed his offseason plan in a recent interview. He justified his signing of Tyler Bertuzzi and the logic crosses over into some other key signings.

«We need a little bit more snot to our game, at the most important times, the rink shrinks. There's no space. You need courage. And we wanted to add players like that.» - Brad Treliving

Bertuzzi, Max Domi, and Ryan Reaves all display these traits. They will bring a pest and winning mentality to Toronto which is hard to get. We saw how valuable that mentality was with Matthew Tkachuk in the playoffs who was undoubtedly the best player of the playoffs despite not winning the Conn Smyth.

While Bertuzzi and Domi and Reaves are not up to par with Tkachuk's offensive talent, they still provide the same style of play and can help ensure the Leafs make it deeper into the playoffs and potentially win a Stanley Cup.
