Auston Matthews revealed what caused the Toronto Maple Leafs' collapse on Saturday night in the first game against the Boston Bruins.

Collapse is the right word here. The game was tight for most of the three periods, but the Bruins capitalized on little mistakes to beat the Leafs by a whopping 5-1 score.

After the game, Auston Matthews, opened up on why he believes his team lost.

Here's what he had to say:

"I mean, I can think of a couple things. Obviously, too many penalties. I think. you give a team like that many opportunities on the man advantage, they're going to capitalize. And, you know, I thought started out pretty good game, and then, you know, just little mistakes. They're a very patient team and they executed on the mistakes that we made. It's a game of inches.

You know, we get a taste of what the series is all about here in this game. And, you know, we just continue to elevate our game and continue, continue to put our best foot forward and get better."

Matthews didn't look too good last night, especially when he missed a wide opened net, which led to the Bruins' second goal of the night.

"Auston Matthews chose not to score on an empty net so Morgan Rielly wouldnt get mad at him"

More to come.
