Maple Leafs Matt Murray back in game action
In breaking news this morning, Matt Murray is getting ready to see game action for the Toronto Marlies as the Leafs have taken the first major step in his return.
Matt Murray has been in the background when it comes to the Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending issues this season. He has been on the LTIR since getting surgery and hasn't played a single game this year. However, he has steadily been recovering from his injury, and now has made the first major step in returning to play.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that Murray will be loaned to the Toronto Marlies on an AHL conditioning stint, marking his first return to a game in about a year.

The Leafs obviously have no need to rush Murray back, especially as the season is coming to a close here quickly. Having Murray ready to go though, is huge. While the Leafs already have 3 quality goaltenders in Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll, and Martin Jones, it's never a bad thing to have more ammunition in your back pocket when it comes to playoffs.
