One of those players that have been named significantly is William Nylander.
With the inability to get a contract extension done between Nylander and the Maple Leafs, the possibility of a trade has become more and more popular throughout the league.
Per "Eklund" of HockeyBuzz, there are now three frontrunner teams in the sweepstakes to complete a trade with the Leafs to acquire the Swedish scoring star.
Reportedly, it is the New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, and the Anaheim Ducks that have the highest chances of trading for Nylander.
All three teams have the need for a player of Nylander's archetype, but it appears to be that the Islanders are in front of the others.
In the report, it seems to be the Isles in front to get a deal done, as they would almost certainly be offering the same return package that they apparently offered for new Detroit Red Wings star Alex DeBrincat.
The offer consists of two solid bottom-six forwards in Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom, as well as expected draft capital to be included.
With the rumors of Nylander being moved from Toronto gradually increasing, all that is left to do is wait and see what Brad Treliving decides to do next.
