Washington Capitals Officially Tearing Down Around Alex Ovechkin
The Capitals announced today that they are scratching two players for trade related reasons. This sparks the beginning of a tear down around Alex Ovechkin.
Capitals Scratch Two Players
Tonight against the Anaheim Ducks, defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnet Hathaway will be scratched.
Both of these players hold significant value and could become prime targets for a contending team.
The underlying story, however, is that the Capitals have given up on contention this season, and that they will start a retool around Alex Ovechkin.
We will see if these players fetch good value. Hopefully they will, if the Capitals ever want to add another banner to the rafters.
