Defeceman Nikita Zadorov has extended his contract with the Calgary Flames for one year and $3.75 million.
The Flames acquired Zadorov, 26, from the Chicago Blackhawks on free agency day in exchange for a third round draught selection in 2022. A restricted free agent, the Flames needed to sign him before the 2021-22 season began, albeit the phrase is a bit weird given his status as an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
Zadorov played 55 games for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020-21, scoring one goal and seven assists. After losing Mark Giordano in the expansion draught last month, he should be a solid fit on the Flames back end.
