The American Hockey League has suspended a former teammate of Evander Kane during his time with the San jose Barracuda, the AHL affiliate to the San Jose Sharks.
San Jose Barracuda forward Krystof Hrabik has been suspended 30 games by the American Hockey League for a despicable racist gesture made at Boko Imama of the Tucson Roadrunners, the AHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes.
The incident happened during the game between the two teams on January 12th. The American hockey league released a statement:
"The AHL stands with Boko Imama,» said Howson. «It is unfair that any player should be subjected to comments or gestures based on their race; they should be judged only on their ability to perform as a player on the ice, as a teammate in the locker room and as a member of their community."
The NHL is trying to change the game with racism but unfortunately it still has a way to go. Hopefully one day stories like these won't ever be reported in hockey and we can all enjoy this great game together.
