After the NHL and NHLPA put the season on hold for a week due to the rise of COVID19 cases and opting out of the 2022 Beijing Olympics some players weren't happy and showed displeasure.

Connor Hellebuyck spoke to the media on Tuesday morning and called the recent pause in the season "overkill" and is not happy the NHL won't send its players to the Beijing Olympics.

Here is what he had to say:

"I can't speak for everyone, but the feeling for myself is that it's a little overkill," Hellebuyck said. "You see leagues like the NFL, who are adapting and I think are doing things right. It sucks, but you know it's Christmas time, so we're enjoying the break and gonna use this as a little mental reset, see family and enjoy the holidays and really enjoy what we have."

Let's not forget, Helly would have likely been the starting goaltender for the US hockey team, "I haven't heard it official yet, so I don't really have a reaction, but if the next one is in four years, I'll be 32."

"I know I'll still be playing my best hockey, but we'll see if it's the same story then. It was going to be an awesome opportunity to play, but I guess that's just what we have to deal with."

Hellebuyck is still 28, he would be 32 for the next Olympics.
