The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs both went south for Game 3 of their first-round series. They took a detour to Los Angeles and Tampa Bay.
Creative travel for Canadian playoff teams. The Oilers flew to Vancouver last night and will bus into Washington today before flying to LA. By doing this the Oilers avoid mandatory Covid testing for air travel into the US. Driving across the border doesn't require testing. 1/2
The Maple Leafs took a bus to Buffalo this morning and will fly to Tampa Bay from there. No word on the Calgary Flames travel plans to Dallas as both clubs prep for game 2.
Jason Spezza, on the Leafs decision to bus to Buffalo before flying to Tampa: "That's above my pay grade. I get on the bus when they tell me to get on the bus. I get on the plane when they tell me to get on the plane. As long as it all leads to the arena I'm pretty happy."
