It is always sad to see a players' career end from injury. It isn't the way any player imagines going out, and it is never timely.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin unfortunately appears to be joining the group of players who've succumbed to injury.

Muzzin always put his heart on the line, and was a great player in the league. While a return isn't necessarily impossible, new reports indicate that it is very unlikely:

My understanding is he has a follow-up appointment in California with the doctors he saw there," he said, "It is at some point early next week, and then there will be a clear direction. It would be a surprise if he was able to come back and make an attempt at returning. He has stayed very close with the team and has been with them on the road, but I don't believe it will be in the cards that he will be back healthy and playing again.

Native of Woodstock, Ontario, less than an hour from Toronto, it isn't hard to imagine that he will find a new role with the organization going forward. We wish the best to him and his family as he takes the next steps in his career.
