The Winnipeg Jets are off to a great start this season, which contrasts with the team's underachievement last year. After 15 games, the team is second in its division with a 10-4-1 record.
The arrival of Rick Bowness behind the bench is likely a big factor in the team's early success.
However, the Jets have been without one of their star forwards for most of the season, with Nikolaj Ehlers having played in only two games so far.
While many thought he might return to action soon, the opposite was confirmed today, as Ehlers will undergo surgery for a sports hernia next week. There is no timetable for a return to action at this time.
This type of surgery can take several weeks before he is ready to return to the game. However, the Jets head coach says he has stressed that Dane will play again this season.
