Matthews Knies, drafted 57th overall by the Leafs in 2021, has impressed with 30 points in 28 games for the University of Minnesota Gophers.
The Leafs hope to bring him in after the season ends.
The Leafs believe he is ready for the NHL, but according to Corey Pronman of The Athletic, Knies is a highly sought after power-forward listed at #3 in the top prospects for trade. He is pretty much their best prospect right now.
Pronman thinks Knies will be a top-9 winger in the playoffs and the return would be excellent due to high demand.
