Chris Tanev was knocked out of game four of the second round and miraculously returned for game five but had to leave early on after a hit from Nathan MacKinnon.

Chris Tanev has been arguably the Dallas Stars' best defenseman so far through the playoffs. Repeatedly shutting down other teams' top talent, Tanev has helped lead the Stars to seven victories through the playoffs and was hoping to make it eight tonight to advance to the third round of the playoffs.

However, he was forced to leave early after a monstrous hit from Nathan MacKinnon.

Chris Tanev took a big hit from Ross Colton near end of Game 4 and stayed off the ice last 2 days.
Now he leaves the ice after his first shift tonight following this play... went to dressing room

It looks as if the Avalanche may be targeting Tanev as he blocks shots and takes the body. Here is the play that Ross Colton made to knock Tanev out of game four.

Chris Tanev didn't play another shift after this hit by Ross Colton, although it may have been precautionary, given the large lead.

Down 3-1 in the series against the Stars, the Avalanche look to be targeting some of Dallas' top talent in an effort to get a competitive edge.
