The Columbus Blue Jackets have been one of the worst teams in the league this year. As such, they are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline. Today, it seems the sale has begun.

Blue Jackets Complete Minor Trade With Pittsburgh Penguins

The deal was announced just moments ago by the team. The Blue Jackets gave up forward Emil Bemstrom in exchange for Alex Nylander and a conditional 6th round pick.

We have acquired F Alex Nylander and a conditional 2026 6th round draft pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for F Emil Bemstrom

Bemstrom has split time between the NHL and AHL this season. With the Blue Jackets he has 5 goals and 11 points in 32 games played. At the AHL level he has 10 goals and 14 points in just 8 games. Nylander, on the other hand, has played in just 5 games this season with the Penguins, failing to record a point. He's played in 98 career NHL games and has 14 goals and 34 points to show for it.

The #CBJ have acquired Alex Nylander and a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick from the #pens for Emil Bemstrom.

Be sure to be on the lookout for more moves as both the Penguins and the Blue Jackets look to have active trade deadlines. Both teams will likely be selling off more players ahead of the March 8th deadline.
